saki, your sword has a power of its own. its not just used for slashing at people. the point of this is to learn how to summon the power within your sword. this is called shikai. your shikai will have a special ability that will help you in battle.

saki, if your sword never worked againafter achieving shikai, then no of us would be able to fight with swords. and most people here do just that.
